Representing an organization with thousands of members, she said the 287(g) agreement is devastating families and Kenner's economy, and was disappointed Mayor Glaser skipped the meeting where he'd agreed to discuss its impact.

A lifelong Kenner resident and member of Unión Migrante, she cited research showing police lose legitimacy with immigrant communities when they enforce immigration law, and urged ending the agreement.

Speaking for the Party for Socialism and Liberation, she argued 287(g) programs drain tax bases, divert money from community policing, and questioned whether the mayor should support federal immigration enforcement.
